Finding Peace in the Waiting
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14 (NIV)
As spouses and loved ones of first responders, we often wait. Waiting for them to return home safely. Waiting through long shifts and unpredictable schedules. Waiting for text messages or a knock at the door. That waiting can weigh heavy on the heart.
But God reminds us that even in the stillness — especially in the stillness — He is present. Waiting doesn’t mean we’re powerless; it means we’re choosing to trust the One who holds our loved ones and our futures in His hands.
When anxiety creeps in, take a deep breath and remember that God is fighting for you. Trust that His plan for your family is good, even when your days feel uncertain. Let your waiting draw you closer to Him, making room for His peace to fill every corner of your heart and home.
Reflect:
Take a quiet moment today to thank God for keeping your family. Write down one fear you’re carrying, and ask Him to take it. Picture Him holding that fear in His hands.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for watching over my family. Help me to trust You more and fear less. Wrap my heart in Your perfect peace as I wait, knowing You are faithful. Amen.
